The What:
Like plenty of the other loud mouths with mics all across the internet, I’m a guy that’s particularly fond of yelling my opinions on various aspects of nerdery, and toiling over the audio files that resulted for countless hours. While I took a hiatus on this specific hobby in 2015, I did so with the firm belief that I would eventually return to it once my life had gotten back on track. I’ve not called it quits by any means, but I’ve yet to find anything that quite evokes the same spark that led me down that particular rabbit hole.
To speak to the beginning, I first took up the mic as a replacement co-host on TOROCast, a podcast built around covering the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, in latter half of 2012. There I soon moved to handle the responsibilities of recording, editing, and eventually hosting the show until its end in early 2015. During that time, I helped create and run a variety of other podcasts, while taking virtually every chance I could to make guest appearances on any podcast that would have me.
The Who:
The above is what I’ve done, but only a part of who I am. According to my Twitter profile, I’m the following: Angry Gamer. Strange Husband. On extended hiatus from yelling opinions into a mic. Punches servers for a living.
That pretty much handles it right there. While podcasting was a clear part of my life, I’m also a gamer, a married man, and just another person trying to survive in late stage Capitalism. I guess I also do IT support related nonsense these days, which has resulted in this travesty.
The Why:
Boredom.
No, really. At the time of this creation, I work overnights as a SysAdmin. This can sometimes lead to periods of time where I find myself with free time to further learn, or relax and work on my own projects. In my very small team, our motto is “do the needful”, which generally means do what it takes to get it done, and do it right. It’s not uncommon that we get a client that has attempted to do something, and failed miserably, often with use of the sudo command. Several tired people and an excess of caffeine later, we get “sudo the needful”. That’s it. That’s the joke. I never said it was a good one.
Ultimately, I’m not that creative. Beyond the inside joke, this site will likely become an outlet for the occasional blogpost and home to any other project I decide to undertake in the future.
